Frequently Asked Questions

Can you design a Web site for me?

We do professional Web site design and development work for clients from time to time, and will respond to any genuine enquiry, so please contact us with details of what you have in mind. However, we usually have work contracted for about 3 years ahead, so are rarely able to take on large Web design jobs. Small jobs may be fitted in among other work.

Can you host a Web site for me?

No. We are sorry but we do not provide any hosting services at present, whether we have designed your site or not. We can, however, provide advice and assistance with setting up hosting with a suitable provider if we design a site for you.

Can you re-design an existing Web site, or advise on what is required to improve it or make it compliant with current standards and accessibility legislation?

Yes, we can. Please contact us with details of your requirements. In the same way as for original site design, we may be able to fit small jobs in among other work, but are unlikely to be able to take on larger jobs at short notice.

Can you provide original photographs, art-work or animation to my specifications for my own Web site, brochure, promotional material etc.?

Yes, we do commissioned work of this sort, though it will depend upon the nature of the material you require. Please contact us with details of your requirements.

Would you be interested in writing a book for my publishing company?

We are always glad to hear from editors and publishers, and we are interested in possible new projects in our subject areas. However, please be aware that we usually have publishing contracts in place for work for at least three years ahead, and we do not undertake new projects unless they offer a realistic advance payment (if royalty based) or a satisfactory flat-rate fee.

Would you be interested in co-authoring a book with me?

Only if the project is an exceptional one, with a guaranteed advance payment or fee, and if you are already a well-established author. If your project meets these conditions, please do contact us

Would you be able to come and give a presentation/lecture to my course or group?

That depends on many factors, including timing and location. Please contact us with details of your requirements.

Can you help me with the problems I am having with my PC, or with connecting it to a broadband service?

No. We are sorry but we do not work with PCs and do not know enough about the Windows operating systems to assist you properly.

What do you charge for the various services you provide?

We price each job independently, and will always provide a quotation before starting any work. Providing the job does not expand to include more work than originally requested (e.g. if a client asks for extra pages or original material for a site after work has begun) we will charge the amount quoted.

Why are your films not embedded as movies on this site, so that we can see them here?

MacAvon Media Productions does not own copyright in the soundtracks used for the films, and does not currently have permission to play the sound on this site. The films depend closely upon their soundtracks, so we are not able to present them at the moment.
